1 November 21, 2012: (11/27) Network shutdown for floor switch replacement
The previously replaced floor switch has had a power failure and will be replaced again. Accordingly, the network will be shut down as follows. 2 October 30, 2012: (11/7) Network shutdown for floor switch replacement
In connection with the replacement of the failed floor switches, the network will be shut down as follows. Since only the switch fans have failed, communications are currently functioning properly. 3 October 7, 2011: (10/23) Power shutdown for the regular inspection of power receiving and transforming facilities
The School of Science Bldg. 1 accommodates the School’s facilities for the core network. In connection with the regular inspection of power receiving and transforming facilities, power will be shut off from 7:30 to 18:00 on October 23 (Sunday). The core network provided with a separate power line will remain in operation. Even during a power outage in Bldg. 1, the network can be accessed from the other buildings. Note that the network cannot be used in the building with power outage. The following core network services will remain available. - Wired network (core network) - Wi-Fi network (core network/authentication) - DNS and DHCP servers - Web hosting - Virtual servers The following service will be unavailable during power outage. - Streaming of videos on the School of Science websites Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
4 September 30, 2011: (10/12) Maintenance of the Web hosting service
For server updates, including the patching of Apache vulnerabilities, the maintenance of the Web hosting service will be performed as follows. Work date/time: 19:00 - 22:00 on October 12 (Wednesday) Downtime: About 10 - 20 minutes during the above period Work description: Server updates Affected area: All Web servers using the Web hosting service Remarks: The servers will be restarted. 5 March 14, 2011: Action for rolling blackouts
Today no rolling blackout will be implemented on the Hongo Campus. In the event of rolling blackouts on March 15 or later, all functions of the School of Science core network will be unavailable during the blackouts. Note that, unlike regular facility inspections, a blackout on the entire Hongo Campus will disable all network functions, including core switches and DNS servers. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
6 March 2, 2011: University-wide Wi-Fi service (utroam)
The School of Science has participated in a pilot project for the University-wide Wi-Fi service (utroam) conducted by the ICT Infrastructure Development Working Group under the Information System Strategy Council. In addition to the University-wide personnel information system (MyWeb) and educational computing system, School of Science faculty and students can use the service with the account for the authentication system for certificate issuance. To create a utroam account using the School of Science network account, use 10-digit Universal ID postfixed with @s.u-tokyo.ac.jp and the password for the School of Science network account (“@s.u-tokyo.ac.jp” is irrelevant to the e-mail address). 7 March 1, 2011: Updating of Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows
The School of Science uses Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows. Support for Sophos Anti-Virus Version 7.6 will end on March 31, 2011. A new version of the software is available on the download page of the Information Technology Center. Users of the software are asked to update it. For the use of Sophos, see the page “Sophos Anti-Virus (internal access only)”. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
8 October 22, 2010: Network failure
A network loop occurred on 7F of the School of Science Bldg. 1 Center Wing at around 18:50 today. It caused Wi-Fi failure across the School of Science. Wi-Fi service was restored at around 20:40.
